Rigging Specialist

Location: San Diego, CA

Epsilon Systems Solutions, Inc. is currently seeking a full time Rigging Specialist in National City, CA.

Job Summary: Supervise and coordinate the activities of assigned Riggers. Provide direction, guidance, and oversee work assignments/ performance. Recommend or initiate personnel actions, such as hires, promotions, transfers, discharges, and disciplinary measures. Acts as liaison between customer and company.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Organizes, leads, and trains crews to complete projects within established guidelines and time frames.
  • Recruits and trains subordinate personnel; establishes safety and work performance standards.
  • Plans, assigns, schedules, and supervises the work of skilled and trades helper subordinates on various shipboard system repair and installation projects.
  • Determines schedules, sequences, and assignments for work activities, based on work priority, quantity of equipment and skill of personnel.
  • Monitors employees' work levels, and prepares and delivers performance reviews.
  • Investigates accidents and injuries, and prepares reports of findings.
  • Disciplines and counsels employees about work-related issues and assist employees to correct job-skill deficiencies.
  • Compiles operational and personnel records, such as time and production records, inventory data, repair and maintenance statistics, and test results.
  • Prepares routine work and time reports and maintains standard records.
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates maintenance policies and procedures.
  • Examines objects, systems, or facilities, and analyzes information to determine needed installations, services, or repairs.
  • Prepares cost estimates of labor and material; orders supplies, material, and equipment.
  • Monitors tool and part inventories and the condition and maintenance of shops to ensure adequate working conditions.
  • Conducts or arranges for worker training in safety, repair, and maintenance techniques, operational procedures, or equipment use.
  • Performs related work as required.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 to 10 years related work experience


  • Proficient skill in reading, interpreting and working from templates, patterns, process sheets, blueprints, engineering drawings, sketches, charts and rigging equipment operating manuals.
  • Must have excellent understanding of all trade areas.
  • Knowledge of strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Knowledgeable in shipyard, marine, and commercial work practices, quality assurance and contracting methods.
  • Thorough knowledge of Navy ship repair processes and procedures.
  • Experience with and knowledge of NAVSEA Standard items.


  • Skill using various hand tools, jacks, and hoists.
  • Skill in determining the proper sequence of operations and performing planning, scheduling, and production flow layout.
  • Leadership and facilitator skills in working as a team leader.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • Uses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Effective problem solving, oral and written communication skills
  • Sound interpersonal skills needed to interface, coordinate with company personnel, customers, and outside contacts.


  • Ability to read, listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken and written words and sentences.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and stay organized.
  • Ability to lead a group efficiently and effectively.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow detailed written instructions, schematics or drawings and to conduct activities in a safe manner.
  • Make decisions using sound judgment while complying with policies, procedure appropriate principles and applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Ability to manage one’s time in meeting deadlines to include timesheet submission, project milestones, and project schedule, etc.
  • Ability to obtain security clearance SECRET level, if applicable.
  • Ability to obtain access to military/government installations worldwide, if applicable.

ADA Notations:

  • Require walking, reaching, sitting and concentration in the presence of occasional noise.
  • Able to move in narrow and restricted passageways, up/down steep and narrow ladders or stairways, and up and down antenna masts/yardarms (onboard ships).
  • Able to lift, carry and move objects up to 50 lbs in weight.
  • Must have manual and finger dexterity; able to grasp, manipulate, assemble small objects.
  • Able to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.
  • Able to perceive and distinguish normal range of colors.
  • Work is done in various settings: Office, Warehouse, laboratory, pierside, shipboard.
  • Noise conditions range from very quiet to loud noise.
