Epsilon Systems Solutions, Inc.,  is seeking a contingent full time Structural Support (Coatings and Welding) Subject Matter Expert II in San Diego, CA.

Summary: Provide structural support (coatings and welding) to our customer related to U.S. Navy ships and vessels.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Supports solving complex technical problems concerning ship coating, materials, and welds.
• Completes assessment or Technical Assist, and provide repair recommendations to the branch head in a Report or TAVR format as required for review and issuance on the equipment.
• Conducts ship visits to provide technical guidance for repairs, troubleshooting or testing as requested for urgent or routine requests.
• Conducts on-the-job training for Ships Force Maintenance personnel. The training must include adjustments, repairs, troubleshooting techniques and equipment/personnel safety.
• Communicates with and conduct a debrief of cognizant Ships Force personnel reporting conditions found, repairs completed and/or required and training conducted with current operational condition. Any unresolved conditions must be briefed to the ship’s Commanding Officer and Chief Engineer with corrections required.
• Conducts engineering investigations and analyses of coating system failures.
• Recommends corrective repair actions using root cause analysis.
• Reviews proposed welding repair designs. Identify weld joints design and testing requirements.
• Addresses material substitution requests specific to ship structures.

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 4 years’ experience related to Navy ship structural support.
• Ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

• NBPI or NACE Level 1 Certification.
• Attended vocational or Navy weld school.

ADA Notations:

• Ability to lift, carry and move objects up to 50 lbs. in weight.
• Ability to work in office, warehouse, laboratory, pier side, and shipboard locations.
• Noise conditions range from very quiet to loud, hearing protection may be required at times.
• May be required to go aloft onboard ships to inspect superstructures and enter tanks, voids, and enclosed spaces.
• Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States.
