Auxiliary Equipment Technician II

Epsilon Systems Solutions, Inc. is seeking a full time Auxiliary Equipment Technician II in San Diego, CA.

Summary: This position will provide support to the U.S. Navy for recurring assessments and repair of various shipboard auxiliary pollution abatement and freshwater systems and equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide engineering technical support for the following systems, subsystems and equipment: Oil Pollution Abatement (OPA), Oil Waste Separators (OWS), Oil Content Monitors (OCM), Reverse Osmosis (RO) Distilling Plant, Sewage Collection, Holding and Transfer (CHT), Sewage Vacuum Collection, Holding and Transfer (VCHT), Evaporative toilet system (e.g. GATX), Potable Water system, Electric Cooling Water (ECW), Shredders, Plastic Waste Processor (PWP), Metal/Glass Shredder (MGS), Large and Small Waste Pulpers.
  • Provide support of electrical components and equipment, electrical/electronic control, detection, alarm sensing, indicating, and monitoring systems and equipment associated with the equipment listed above.
  • Completes assessment or Technical Assist, and provides repair recommendations to the branch head in a Report or TAVR format as required for review and issuance on the equipment.
  • Conducts ship visits to provide technical guidance for repairs, troubleshooting or testing as requested for urgent or routine requests.
  • Conducts on-the-job training for Ships Force Maintenance personnel. The training must include adjustments, repairs, troubleshooting techniques and equipment/personnel safety.
  • Communicates with and conduct a debrief of cognizant Ships Force personnel reporting conditions found, repairs completed and/or required and training conducted with current operational condition. Any unresolved conditions must be briefed to the ship’s Commanding Officer and Chief Engineer with corrections required.
  • Assists with the research and technical resolution of Departures from Specification (DFS).

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience with Equipment listed in the duties and responsibilities
  • Active DOD Secret Security Clearance
  • Possess or Obtain Oil Pollution Abatement (OPA) Inspector Certification in accordance with NAVSEA INSTRUCTION 9593.2B within 90 days of start.

ADA Notations:

  • Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes up to 50 lbs
  • Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces
  • Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels
  • May ride ships at sea for extended periods
  • Travel to to different RMCs or Naval Ship locations may be required. Travel may include extended underway periods and travel outside of the continental United States.
