Elevator Systems Electrician (Engineering Technician IV)

Epsilon Systems Solutions, Inc. is seeking a full time Elevator Systems Electrician (Engineering Technician IV) in San Diego, CA.

Summary: This position will provide support for recurring assessments and repair of Elevator Systems and equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides engineering technical support U. S. Navy ship’s Elevator Branch for all related electrical systems, electrical/electronic controls, detection, alarm sensing, indicating, and monitoring systems to include Hydraulic Power, Pneumatic, Electrical, Mechanical, Hoisting and Control Sub-systems for the following systems and equipment: Cargo Weapons Elevators, Hydraulic Power Units, Ammunition Hoists, Ammunition Elevators, Aircraft Elevators (Safety Stanchion system and Hydraulic Power Unit), Cargo Elevators, Lift Platforms, Ship Service and Food Service Dumbwaiters, Conveyor Systems, Doors (Electrical, Pneumatic, Mechanical and Computer controlled, on Aircraft Elevators, Helicopter, Divisional Elevators).
  • Completes assessment or Technical Assist, and provides repair recommendations to the branch head in a Report or TAVR format as required for review and issuance on the equipment.
  • Conducts ship visits to provide technical guidance for repairs, troubleshooting or testing as requested for urgent or routine requests.
  • Reviews the adequacy of the onboard ILS, PMS, PQS and validates the current equipment configuration.
  • Conducts on-the-job training for Ships Force Maintenance personnel. The training must include adjustments, repairs, troubleshooting techniques and equipment/personnel safety.
  • Communicates with and conduct a debrief of cognizant Ships Force personnel reporting conditions found, repairs completed and/or required and training conducted with current operational condition. Any unresolved conditions must be briefed to the ship’s Commanding Officer and Chief Engineer with corrections required.
  • Assists in the completion of elevator certification testing of equipment and System Operability Tests (SOT Level III) weight testing with government Certified Elevator Inspector.
  • Assists with the research and technical resolution of DFSs.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience with U.S. Navy Elevator systems maintenance and repair
  • Active DOD Secret Security Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Possess Programmable Logic Control (PLC) troubleshooting training and certification

ADA Notations:

  • Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes up to 50 lbs
  • Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces
  • Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels
  • May ride ships at sea for extended periods
  • Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States
