Gas Turbine Mechanical and Controls Subject Matter Expert III

Epsilon Systems Solutions, Inc. is seeking a contingent full time Gas Turbine Mechanical and Controls Subject Matter Expert III in San Diego, CA.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide engineering technical support for U. S. Navy ship’s Mechanical Components and Engine Controllers for Gas Turbine Propulsion and Gas Turbine Generator Engines and their support systems: LM2500 and LM2500+, 501-K17 and 501-K34, MT5 and MT30, 250-KS4, TF40B, ETF40B, T62, Solar T1000S and Solar T1302S. Provide support for controls and monitoring systems for Gas Turbine Propulsion for DDG 51, CG 47, LHD 8, LHA 6, LCS 1 & LCS 2 Class Ships which includes the following control system elements: Propulsion Auxiliary Control Console (PACC), Signal Conditioner Enclosure (SCE), Central Information System Equipment (CISE), Propulsion Local Control Console (PLCC), Shaft Control Unit (SCU), Free Standing Electronic Enclosure (FSEE), Interim Integrated Electronic Control (IIEC), Universal Engine Control (UEC), Universal Engine Control (UEC) Plus, Main Engine Control Unit (MECU), Data Acquisition Unit (DAU), Full Authority Digital Control (FADC), Fuel Control Console (FCC), Fuel Control System (FCS), Damage Control Console (DCC), Damage Control System (DCS), Ship Control Console (SCC), Bridge Control Unit (BCU), Shaft Torsion Meter, Engineering Officer of the Watch (EOOW), Digital Fuel Control, Blow-in-Door (BID) Controllers, Universal Control Console (UCC), supporting operating systems & software. Provide support for control and Monitoring System for Gas Turbine Generators for DDG 51 and CG 47 Class Ships which includes the following control system elements: Electric Plant Control Console (EPCC), Full Authority Digital Controller (FADC), Local Control Operating Panel (LOCOP), Fuel Metering Valve (FMV), Redundant Independent Mechanical Start System (RIMSS), and Trainer in Work Station (TIWS).
  • Provide assistance, training and technical subject matter expertise in Gas Turbine systems maintenance and repairs to ships’ force military personnel during FTA, TSRA, INSURV, TMI assessments, and CMO events.
  • Complete assessment or Technical Assist, and provide repair recommendations to the branch head in a Report or TAVR format as required for review and issuance on the equipment.
  • Conduct ship visits to provide technical guidance for repairs, troubleshooting or testing as requested for urgent or routine requests.
  • Review the adequacy of the onboard ILS, PMS, PQS and validate the current equipment configuration.
  • Conduct on-the-job training for Ships Force Maintenance personnel. The training must include adjustments, repairs, troubleshooting techniques and equipment/personnel safety.
  • Communicate with and conduct a debrief of cognizant Ships Force personnel reporting conditions found, repairs completed and/or required and training conducted with current operational condition. Any unresolved conditions must be briefed to the ship’s Commanding Officer and Chief Engineer with corrections required.
  • Submit a Ship Visit Report to include the assessment of the material condition and operational status, following the standard report format used by the Branch.
  • Assist with the research and technical resolution of DFSs.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 6 (six) years’ experience with gas turbine mechanical and controls maintenance and repair.
  • Ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance

ADA Notations:

  • Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces
  • May ride ships at sea for extended periods
  • Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States
