Assistant Supervisor

Location: San Diego, CA

Epsilon Systems Solutions, Inc. is currently seeking a contingent full time Assistant Supervisor in San Diego, CA.

Job Summary: Assist the site foreman in the day-to-day management of a site in order to provide organizational (O) level maintenance and repairs, service call repairs and operational support services for a berthing and messing program, barges and structures, and their related systems, equipment, and facilities for our customer. Maintenance at this level includes inspections, servicing, handling, and periodic preventive maintenance of equipment with associated checks and tests as provided by the installed preventive maintenance system. The Assistant supervisor is directly responsible to the foreman for managing all site employees, and enforcing all aspects of work assignments including: personnel resources and availabilities, applicable safety equipment requirements and provisions, material and equipment status, shipping schedules and related impacts, work and effort requirements and safety concerns.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists the Site Foreman to Assign employee tasks.
  • Recognizes, addresses and resolves issues/problems among/between employees.
  • Maintains work standards and outlines expectations to ensure employee morale and productivity.
  • Ensures employee compliance with customer and company policies and procedures.
  • Follows site plans and schedules and ensures that employees under his/her direction perform daily and weekly activities to meet production goals.
  • Promotes, supports and facilitates teamwork and harmony between all employees by promoting and fostering a positive, visible teamwork attitude among all crew members.
  • Oversees the execution of the work, including quality and production, ensuring that the crew works to job specifications.
  • Inspects completed work to ensure it meets quality standards.
  • Ensures our QMS, SOPs, and SWPs relating to assigned projects are complied with.
  • Ensures project teams comply with all published and directed health, safety, environmental, and worksite cleanliness requirements.
  • Ensures subcontractors comply with all contract provisions including adherence to schedule.
  • Maintains a work file Current Ship’s Maintenance Program (CSMP) for each barge (identified by hull number)
  • Communicates orally and in writing with all levels of customer representatives, sub-contractors, and vendors.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum five years’ experience in a mechanical, structural, electrical, or electronics trade and completed an apprenticeship program or its equivalent.
  • Minimum one year experience in quality assurance procedures and requirements as they relate to shipboard equipment and systems
  • Minimum 2 years of Supervisor experience
  • Minimum 5 years professional experience in operational level ship repair and maintenance
  • Experience in reading and interpreting blue prints, technical manuals and other technical data and in sequencing work appropriately to eliminate repeating work efforts
  • Experience in testing, troubleshooting and inspecting installed equipment and systems
  • Ability to obtain access to military installations
  • Ability to identify the critical path and manage the subordinate activities to achieve on time project completion
  • Familiar with the following: Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Regulations, National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP) for Shipbuilding and Ship Repair (Surface Coating/Painting Operations (40 CFR Part 63, Subpart II), Uniform National Discharge Standards for Vessels of the Armed Forces (40 CFR Part 1700), EPA Solid Waste Regulations and Standards (40 CFR Subchapter I), EPA Toxic Substance Control Act (40 CFR Subchapter R), and other local environmental rules and regulations for the geographic area in which the candidate is applying

  • Frequent standing, sitting, walking, handling, feeling with hands, reaching with arms
  • Regular Communication (hearing and speaking)
  • Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, and lifting of heavy objects
  • Ability to go aboard ships, barges and other naval craft
  • Ability to move in narrow and restricted passageways, up/down steep and narrow ladders or stairways onboard ships
  • Ability to lift, carry and move objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Industrial, shop environment
