Painter/Blaster I

Epsilon Systems Solutions, Inc. is seeking a full-time position for a Painter/Blaster I in San Diego, CA.

Summary: Support contractor personnel shall support the Corrosion Control Antennas Product Line/Shop in successfully accomplishing its mission to provide corrosion control services to U.S. Navy ships, shore commands, and other units in an attempt to extend the service life of shipboard components.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conducts antenna inspections, tests and repairs.
  • Overhauls and preserves antennas in accordance with FWPs and applicable technical documentation sign-off steps, while ensuring adherence to technical authority requirements.
  • Cleans, refurbishes, blasts and paints antenna components.
  • Assists in the installation of antenna equipment and components aboard the ships, when required.
  • Maintains a Strategic Contingency Pool of ready for issue (RFI) antennas.
  • Performs surface preparation/painting/preservation on equipment to include: shipboard communication antennas, navigation antennas, alidades & binoculars, RAST/RSD, torpedo tubes, material handling equipment (MHE), and life raft canisters.
  • Performs life raft canister refurbishment and repair by filling holes, ensuring caution to prevent damage to glass reinforced plastic (GRP) and exterior gel coat (process requires handling of HAZMAT including epoxy cements, resins, and accelerators).
  • Assists with Ship-to-Shop items being delivered for processing and pick up of finished products.
  • Uses power tools and be respirator fit/qualified.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 1 year of related experience
  • Knowledge of standard items, test procedures and test memos
  • Ability to read blueprints, technical manuals, and repair standards
  • Ability to use abrasive to blast all products using various blast media
  • Ability to qualify as a fork lift operator
  • Possess current driverís License
  • Ability to obtain and maintain base access

  • Requires walking, reaching, sitting and concentration in the presence of occasional noise
  • Regular communication (hearing/speaking)
  • Ability to lift, carry and move objects up to 50 lbs. in weight
  • Ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp
  • Ability to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions
  • Ability to wear a face mask while working
  • Ability to wear a respirator
  • Frequently lifts, carries and helps setup tools, equipment, and parts that weigh up to 50 pounds
