Summary: The Software Engineer will be integrated into a small- to medium-sized software team involved in all phases of the software development life cycle and will develop new capabilities and features, as well as maintain the existing product line.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Codes software applications to adhere to designs supporting external customers’ requirements.
• Develops scripts, programs, and other tools as needed.
• Performs software and system testing procedures, bug verification, release testing, and beta support.
• Performs product design and programming activities involving multiple modules or subsystems.
• Performs release testing and beta support for assigned projects and resolves problems found in the software.
• Create and maintain developer and user-level artifacts including software version documents, software requirement documentation, software developer documentation, deployment guides, and user guides.
• Participates in design meetings and consults with other staff to evaluate interface between hardware and software, and operational and performance requirements of overall system.
• Supports software Design, Development, Integration and Test and Evaluation using various (agile, waterfall DevOps) methodologies.

Required Qualifications:

• BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or Software Engineering.
• Three to six (3-6) years of professional experience in a related engineering field.  Experience in an embedded real-time setting preferred.
• Strong object-oriented web application programming experience utilizing C++, Java, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.x (RHEL).

• Experience programming in a real-time development environment.
• Experience with Configuration Management Tools such as SVN, GIT, Confluence, or JIRA.
• Familiarity with the following Software Tools: Rational Team Concert, Jenkins, Coverity, Eclipse.

• Experience in Agile development methods, including Scrum, automated testing, static code analysis and continuous integration.
• Effective written, oral, and presentation skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project).
• Ability to work individually and on team projects in an environment of teamwork and cooperation.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain an active DoD Secret Clearance.
• Pursuant to the various government contractual requirements, all applicants must be U.S. Citizens.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience using software source control tools and/or automated build environments.
• Experience using scripting languages (e.g. Perl, Python).
• Software development experience in a DoD environment.
• Global Positioning System (GPS) and Position, Navigation and Time (PNT) domain knowledge.

• Prolonged use of computer (typing/keyboarding).
