Epsilon Systems Solutions, Inc. is seeking a contingent full-time Propulsion and Shafting Engineering Support in San Diego, CA.

Job Summary: Provide FTA support to troubleshoot, assess and repair systems and subsystems including, but not limited to, Main Reduction Gears (MRG), attached lube oil and CPP pumps, propulsion shafting, stern tube seals, stern tube and line shaft bearings, bulkhead seals and associated systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide FTA support to troubleshoot, assess and repair systems and subsystems including, but not limited to, Main Reduction Gears (MRG), attached lube oil and CPP pumps, propulsion shafting, stern tube seals, stern tube and line shaft bearings, bulkhead seals and associated systems
• Provide mechanical technician support for urgent mission degrading CASREPs or other system and component problems affecting propulsion plant systems, auxiliary systems and related components onboard ships.
• Provide mechanical technician support for assessments and inspections such as TMIs, TSRAs, INSURVs, and ICMP support.
• Assist ships force with obtaining supply and repair parts information as required.
• Conduct research to provide drawings, technical manual information, design specifications, and engineering technical recommendations for corrective actions on mechanical propulsion plant systems and components.
• Provide mechanical support for Engineering Service Requests (ESR) to include work specification review, Inspection Deficiency Report (IDR) and Condition Found Report (CFR) resolution, and review of Process Control Procedure (PCP) and other formal work packages.
• Assist with technical research and resolution recommendations for the Departure from Specification (DFS) program.
• Provide mechanical technical assistance and support on complex technical problems for propulsion plant systems and components that are beyond the capability of forces afloat, intermediate maintenance activities or repair activities.
• Perform out briefs to Ship’s Force representatives including ship’s officers and supporting personnel as well as briefs to command management and executive staff.

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum 4 years’ experience with US Navy Propulsion HM&E equipment, operations and maintenance
• Familiar with the Navy's HM&E equipment, operations and maintenance
• Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance
• Ability to read schematics and blue prints and follow detailed instructions and be self-motivated
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written formats with other activities in the military and civilian communities

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associates degree in technical degree or military experience preferred
• Prior Navy service

ADA Notations:

• Requires walking, reaching, sitting and concentration in the presence of occasional noise
• Must have manual and finger dexterity; able to grasp, manipulate, assemble small objects
• Ability to move in narrow and restricted passageways, up/down steep and narrow ladders or stairways, and up and down antenna masts/yardarms (onboard ships)
• Ability to lift, carry and move objects up to 50 lbs. in weight
• Office, warehouse, laboratory, pier side, shipboard noise conditions range from very quiet to loud noise
• Travel to different RMC's or Naval Ship locations may be required. Travel may include extended underway periods and travel outside of the continental United States.
