Facilities Electrician (Machinery Maintenance Mechanic)

Location: San Diego, CA

Epsilon Systems Solutions, Inc. is currently seeking a full-time Facilities Electrician (Machinery Maintenance Mechanic) in San Diego, CA.

Job Summary: Under limited supervision, assist in a variety of electrical trade functions such as the installation, maintenance, or repair of electronics and/or electrical equipment for the generation, distribution, or utilization of electrical energy onboard U.S. government installations. Non-supervisory.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Inspects and tests electrical systems and equipment to locate and diagnose malfunctions, using visual inspections, testing devices.
  • Installs and connects electrical devices, circuits, and equipment
  • Conducts facilities electrical system and equipment PMS
  • Connects wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
  • Diagnoses malfunctioning systems, apparatus, or components, using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
  • Inspects electrical systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
  • Prepares sketches or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring or equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes.
  • Plans the layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes and/or National Electrical Codes (NEC).
  • Assembles, installs, tests, or maintains electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, or fixtures, using hand tools or power tools.
  • Advises the Facilities Work Center Supervisor on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.
  • Places conduit, pipes, or tubing, inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes.
  • Assists in installing and repairing wiring, fixtures, and equipment in command facilities.
  • Uses Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and maintenance management software to effectively communicate with Government leads.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience utilizing NEC standards in commercial electrical work
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD SECRET Security clearance
  • Basic knowledge of techniques, materials, tools and equipment used in the electrical and electronic trades
  • Basic knowledge in electrical and electronic theory and NEC code, low / high Voltage systems, Lockout Tag-out procedures and in Safety of Electrical Operations.
  • Ability to Operate 4-20K Forklifts
  • Ability to wear a respirator

ADA Notations:

  • Require walking, reaching, sitting and concentration in the presence of occasional noise.
  • Able to move in narrow and restricted passageways, up/down steep and narrow ladders or stairways, and up and down antenna masts/yardarms (onboard ships).
  • Able to lift, carry and move objects up to 50 lbs. in weight.
  • Must have manual and finger dexterity; able to grasp, manipulate, assemble small objects.
  • Able to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.
  • Able to perceive and distinguish normal range of colors.
  • Noise conditions range from very quiet to loud noise.
